Eight Survival Items

It happens more than we realize, living in the Adirondack Mountains, a dangerous Noreaster storm bears down on the area. Just after we arrive home, we find ourselves without power and phone service. The Boy Scout's creed, "Always be prepared". Just a few months earlier, we purchased our new SaverKits, and MedSaver Kits. By taking the time to prepare in advance, we have changed our outcome by having the comfort of knowing, our family is ready!

It is difficult to know what you will need, but professionals have given us a great starting point with these 8 Survival Items.

1) Professional MedSaver Kit - We choose to have the (medium size) emergency medical kit. It comes in a handy wheeled duffel bag, and contains everything from the simple items used for cuts and insect bites, to much more advanced items. These cutting edge life saving items include (ActCel), a hemostatic gauze which is used for bleeding control. Also included is the American College of Emergency Physicians First Aid Manual. A comprehensive guide to treating emergency victims of all ages in any situation.

2) The Saver72 - This SaverKit has more food and water than many 72-hour kits. There is an LED flashlight, which is more reliable than those with regular bulbs. The Dynamo powered radio means you don't have to worry about dead batteries, and three 12-hour light sticks provide a safe comfort reading area for three nights. 3) Water (2) Types- We can't live without it. Being prepared with Mainstay long shelf life water is a must. These U. S. Coast Guard Approved water packets with a "No Oxygen Transfer", keeps water fresh. Pre-Measured packets keep the water easy to dispense. Each case has 60 packets of water, making it east to store. With a 5 year shelf life, this gives you the protection you need.

6) Coleman Remote Control Pack-Away Lantern - This Family-Size lantern is easy to operate and has a remote control transmitter that operates up to 50 feet away. The bright 15-watt fluorescent spiral U-tube provides an extra bright, white light with a reflector that directs light upward and outward for more efficient illumination. On low power, it can run for up to 24 hours. When it's bed time, just click the remote control, and it's lights out.

7) Multi-tool - Is a must have for any situation. This easy to use tool-kit fits neatly into a nylon case that slips onto your belt.
